Children’s Privacy
Family involvement
Children’s learning profiles connect to the authorized family and educator accounts associated with them. Parents and guardians can review the learner’s work and relevant permissions through their connected account.
A general inquiry, a learner’s checkbox or a browser camera permission does not by itself establish verified parental consent for collecting or sharing a child’s information.
Information in the learning environment
A child’s profile may include age, grade and interests; the learning record may include assignments, responses, progress and submitted images, audio or video. These records are private within authorized account relationships.
Syros recording controls and browser permissions are separate. Parents may review camera, photo and recording permissions in the portal. External resources may require their own guardian involvement.
Institutional & research participation
School or program access does not automatically authorize research use. Any proposed research involving children must have a defined information and permission process before participation begins.
The relevant institution would determine whether a study requires ethics or institutional review, parental permission and child assent. Syros does not claim current IRB approval.

Questions about a child’s records
A parent or guardian may ask to review, correct or delete a child’s information or discuss stopping future collection. Syros must verify the requester’s authority before taking action.
