Information used by Syros

Inquiry information includes the contact details and opportunity or program information you choose to submit. It is stored for review and response by authorized Syros administrators.

Learning accounts can contain a learner’s name, age or grade, interests, linked family and teacher accounts, assignments, saved work, progress, messages, session participation and submitted media. Account services also use email addresses, session information and security records.

Access to learning records

Learner records are available within the existing account permissions: the learner, connected family accounts, assigned teachers and authorized Syros administrators. Account access does not make learner work public or grant access to another household.

Hosting and account services process information needed to operate the site. Selected sign-in, payment and email services process information for those functions under their own arrangements. Syros uses Cloudflare-backed hosting and storage; optional ChatGPT sign-in, Stripe checkout and configured transactional email are separate service functions.

Recordings & devices

The camera or microphone is requested when a user chooses a recording action. Browser permission and Syros recording permissions apply. Recordings can be reviewed before submission. Public use of learner photography is separate from a private learning submission.

Some settings and optional drafts can remain on your device. Use care on shared devices and sign out when finished.

External learning resources

Links to NASA, NOAA, OCEARCH, Google, museums, zoos, universities and other providers identify external resources or information sources. Listing a resource does not establish a partnership or endorsement.

Outbound resource links do not include a Syros learner profile. External sites receive ordinary browser information and apply their own account, privacy and access rules.

Research & institutional programs

An inquiry or ordinary learning account does not give permission for research participation or release learner data to an institution. A proposed study requires a separate information and authorization process.

Review, correction & deletion

You may ask Syros to review, correct or delete information connected to your account or inquiry. Identity and authority must be checked before records are disclosed or changed. Deletion requests may also involve records held by service providers and any applicable recordkeeping requirements.
